BMW Repair & Service in San Ramon
BMWs are built to be driven, and they reward owners who keep up with them. They also have their own habits: certain gaskets that weep, cooling parts that age, and electronics that need the right equipment to read. Adolph's Autohaus has been working on European cars in San Ramon since 1996. We're a family shop, run today by Nico and Spiro, and BMW is one of the two makes we know best.
Common BMW Problems We Look For
Every BMW is different, but a few issues come up again and again across the 3, 5 and X Series:
- Oil leaks. Valve cover gaskets and oil filter housing gaskets are well-known leak points on many BMW engines. A small leak can drip onto hot exhaust parts or belts, so it's worth catching early.
- Cooling system wear. Water pumps, thermostats, expansion tanks and plastic coolant fittings wear out with age and heat. Overheating is hard on any engine, so we check these parts closely.
- Timing and VANOS concerns. Rattles at startup, rough running or variable valve timing fault codes deserve a proper diagnosis before anyone starts replacing parts.
- Carbon buildup. Direct-injection engines can build up carbon on the intake valves over time, which can cause rough idle or misfires.
- Suspension and steering. Control arm bushings, thrust arms and other worn front-end parts can cause clunks, wandering or uneven feel.
- Electrical and warning lights. From battery registration to sensor faults, modern BMWs depend on their electronics. We use professional-grade diagnostic equipment to read the codes and find the real cause.
BMW Maintenance, Done on Schedule
Most newer BMWs use Condition Based Service, where the car tracks oil, brakes and other items and tells you when they're due. We can handle oil services, brake fluid, spark plugs, filters, coolant and the other items your car calls for. We'll also tell you what we see while it's on the lift. If something can wait, we'll say so. If something shouldn't wait, we'll explain why.
We also handle the bigger jobs: engine repair, transmission service, brakes, exhaust work and computer diagnostics.
Why Use a European Specialist for Your BMW
A general shop can change the oil in a BMW. What makes a difference is knowing where these cars tend to fail, which parts hold up, and how the systems talk to each other. Since European cars are what we work on every day, we usually know where to start looking. That saves you diagnostic time and guesswork.
You'll talk to the people doing the work. Our customers often mention honesty in their reviews, and that's the part we care about most. We explain what we found and what we recommend, so you can make an informed decision.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you work on all BMW models?
We work on a wide range of BMW sedans, coupes and SUVs. If you're not sure about your model, call us with the year and model and we'll tell you right away whether we can help.
My BMW says service is due. What does that mean?
Most newer BMWs use Condition Based Service. The car tracks items like oil, brakes and brake fluid and shows which ones are coming due. Call us with what the display shows, and we'll go over what your car needs.
Will servicing my BMW at an independent shop void my factory warranty?
Under federal law (the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act), using an independent shop doesn't by itself void a manufacturer's warranty. Follow the maintenance schedule and keep your records.
I see oil spots under my BMW. Is that serious?
It depends where the oil is coming from. Some leaks are slow, and others can drip onto hot parts. Bring it in and we'll find the source and explain your options.
Do you offer towing or pick-up?
No. We don't offer towing, mobile repair or vehicle pick-up. If your car can't be driven, please have your tow company drop it off at 23 Beta Ct B, San Ramon, CA 94583.
